MY SCENE- The Laramie Project.

I'm basing my example on Page 28, the Fireside. In directing your scene for the Laramie Project, you must investigate and include the following:

1. THE DIRECTOR'S CONCEPT.

I want to explore the different viewpoints expressed in this scene- for instance, Matt Galloway just wants to get the interview over and done with and his testimony reveals more about him, his attitudes to Matthew and to Henderson and McKinney than about anything that really happened the night Matthew disappeared. This stands in contrast with the evidence of the Shadow, who says, "I didn't figure them guys were gonna be like that". So I really want the audience to ask themselves what is the truth? This means that I might have to direct the actors to contradict each other visually on stage and subtext is really going to be important in the scene.

2. MY SET.

3. DRAMATIC FORMS AND PERFORMANCE STYLES
I really liked the idea of characters transforming in front of the audience, so it would confront the audience if we see the interviewers, who start off so innocently, transform into McKinney and Henderson. So I could investigate Brecht's approach to multi roles for actors. This would really help my concept in getting the audience to focus on "What is the issue?" instead of identifying with Matthew.
